Head On Photography Awards -

WOW! I am so excited to announce that I am the International Runner Up of the Head On Photo Awards.

Thank you to everyone involved in such a fantastic competition.

It’s was online this year because of Covid-19 (so no trip to Oz for me), but it's a great feeling to be the International runner up.

I was a little in awe at the live webinar event as some brilliant images of the forty finalists went by on my screen. When they called my name I nearly fell off my chair, and all I could manage was a big grin and a thumbs up.

The winning image was a beautiful shot by Marcia McMillan called Whimsical Warrior - take a look at the link below.

It has been a great start to the year - competition wise - for me. I was shortlisted in the British Photography Awards for the second year running, which is another brilliant competition to be involved in.

To all you photographers out there: take a look at https://www.britishphotographyawards.org. It is a serious one to win and just what British Photography needed. As an added bonus, most of the money raised goes to charities of your choosing.

I then went and got two Honourable mentions in The Fine Art Photography Awards https://fineartphotoawards.com, again an award with some inspirational imagery.

So to say I am a little pleased would be an understatement. I love photography - from the first professional image I had ever seen by the wonderful Alfred Eisenstaedt, to the last stunning image I saw on Instagram this week.

Photography is good for your soul and great for the world.  It can make you smile. It can make you cry. It can change people’s attitudes towards climate change and security issues.

So whatever camera you have - whether it's the latest DSLR or your phone, keep enjoying making images for yourself, and you never know you might just win an award or two while doing it.

Thank you all so much for your support. I will look forward to bumping into you on a beach or mountain somewhere. X
